Standard Computer Destruction Procedure

The procedure for Computer Destruction is handled with the same professionalism and security protocol as Documents and Electronic Media.  After the Computer Hardware is transported to our Operations Facility in our security vehicles, the Hard Drives are removed and are placed on a conveyor belt where they pass under high-powered ceramic magnets. These magnets erase all magnetically impregnated data stored on the Hard Drives.  The above process is called degaussing.  Because the degaussing process is only approximately 94% effective, the Hard Drives are then shredded in the same responsible and secure way as all Documents and Electronic Media. The Computer Hardware, such as the monitor, keyboard, and the CPU unit is then broken up in an isolated secure area. After the Computer Hardware is destroyed and the Hard Drives are pulverized they are responsibly disposed.

There is a Certificate of Destruction issued for each pick-up and destruction of Computers.  Please note that all of our standard security procedures for Computers are identical to the procedures for Document and Electronic Media Destruction.  The following list delineates the specific features of our secure process of Computers, Documents and Electronic Media destruction:
