Standard Electronic Media Destruction Procedure

All Electronic Media is handled in the same secure manner as Documents.  This procedure is outlined in our brochure.  After the Electronic Media is transported to our Operations Facility in security containers, it is placed on a conveyor belt where it passes under high-powered ceramic magnets. These magnets erase all magnetically impregnated data stored on the Electronic Media.  The above process is called degaussing.  Because the degaussing process is only approximately 94% effective, Electronic Media is then shredded in the same responsible and secure way as all Documents.  After the Electronic Media is shredded it is responsibly re-used.

There is a Certificate of Destruction issued for each pick-up and destruction of Electronic Media.  Please note that all of our standard security procedures for Electronic Media are identical to the procedures for Document Destruction.  The following list delineates the specific features of our secure process of Documents and Electronic Media destruction:

  • “Maximum Control” Security System

  • Locked, ergonomically designed, security containers

  • Triple locked; steel reinforced, and alarmed vehicles for maximum security of transported Documents and Electronic Media containers
